Osage Township was created in May 1891. At that time there was a double township called Carsonville, which was separated and reorganized into two townships; western half named Carsonville and eastern half assuming the name Osage. The first special town meeting was held for the sole purpose of organizing the Town of Osage. At this meeting resolutions passed creating road districts and wages for Town Officers.
